This was arguably the best shot. If you watch the video, you'll see what I'm talking about!
Introduction
As a Utah-based videographer, I've had the privilege of shooting at various wedding and reception venues–all over Utah, and even across the U.S. From Mexican restaurants, to luxury resorts, IPennsylvania, Texas, nearly every one of them impressed above expectation. One of my favorite places to shoot is Park City. Every venue I've shot in Park City is decked out to the nines! Rhyus & Jess chose Solitude Mountain Resort.
Location
It's a bit of a trek to get out to most resorts in Utah, but once you're there, the views are breathtaking and the air is clean! Solitude is nestled just off a winding back-country road, somewhat challenging to be sure you get off at the right exit if you don't know where you're going.
Getting ready
Rhyus and Jess got ready in their respective hotel suites with their groomsmen and bridesmaids. I always try to get as many dynamic getting ready shots as possible–concentrating on capturing both big moments and the tiniest of details. Rhyus and his groomsmen had gifts for each other, which was fun to shoot, but I also got several varying shots of Rhyus putting on his jacket, his tie, putting on his cufflinks. Shots of everyone smiling/laughing and having a great time with each other.
In the bridal suite, Jess and her bridesmaids had their own fun with a first look of Jess in her dress, breaking open a bottle of champagne off the balcony, toasting, giving gifts, and Jess read a letter from Rhyus. Again, capturing all of these big moments, while also concentrating a bit on capturing details that the couple may not think to appreciate in the moment, but will be able to appreciate them in more detail for years to come.
The Ceremony
This venue really knows how to pull all the stops. For the ceremony, they had a traditional wedding arch (presumably custom-made), along with beautiful wedding seats lined up down the center aisle. A lot of room to roam and capture all angles.
Chair lift ride
One of the more unique parts of this wedding was that the couple wanted to take advantage of all the amenities of the venue, including taking a couple of rides on the chair lift to get some unique images. This was incredible and definitely made for some amazing video shots!
Reception
Yet another perfect aspect of Snowbird is their reception hall. Beautiful lighting from all angles, elegant lighting when it got dark, and a TON of space for dancing. The couple had a great time with their guests, and I had fun capturing various angles and capturing as much of the dancing as possible.
Yet another wedding that I was absolutely impressed by. All of the vendors were incredible, and the venue amazing.
